Free Range Reading is a unique program that combines the world-renowned Horse Powered Reading Program and EAAPI Model of Equine Assisted Learning to create a person-centred program that supports learning goals such as improvements in reading, spelling and literacy skills. This program focuses upon the strengths, learning styles and interests of each learner and tailors a program that optimises their capacity to engage in education. This program is neuro-affirming and is based upon best-practice pedagogical principles. Essential life skills that are also taught as part of this program include understanding emotions, communication, fine motor skills, nervous system regulation, confidence and self-compassion. Sessions may include animals, sporting activities, elements of nature and movement, as suited to the individual learner.
Equine & Animal Assisted Counselling is a professional, innovative and experiential approach to counselling that supports clients of all ages in addressing therapeutic goals (emotional, cognitive, behavioural, relationship and mental health conditions), with horses and animals as assistants, support and co-facilitators in this process.
Clients are offered ‘safe’ (physically and emotionally) experiences with horses & other animals for the purpose of exploring self-experience in relationship, building self-awareness, building awareness of patterns or habits that are no-longer serving them well, developing psychological and social skills and addressing therapeutic goals clients have identified.
I believe we are each the best expert on our own lives that that the wisdom we each seek is within us. It is my honour to support you as you discover your own potential, develop skills and take steps to live the life that is authentic to you. My approach to counselling involves utilising evidence-based practices and approaches, including mindfulness based approaches to support presence, inner wisdom and strength.
MBSR can support clients to:
Cope with stress, pain, and the challenges of everyday life
Deal with disturbing events with grace and composure
Be fully present and alive in this moment
and more.
In Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, we utilise the principles of non-judgment, patience, trust, a beginner's mind (not knowing), non-striving, acceptance and letting be to cultivate conditions for wellbeing. Horses epitomise these qualities and sitting in presence alongside horses can magnify the impacts of this practice.
As a trainer and supervisor with EAAPI for over 5 years, it brings me joy to work alongside other practitioners and guide you along your unique path toward the work you love. I can support you with your understanding of the theories and concepts taught in the EAAPI Model, workshop practice ideas, offer individual business and marketing support, assist with business growth, practitioner competence, personal processing and more. With an intricate knowledge and understanding of the EAAPI Model, as well as the work itself, it is a joy for me to connect with and support those in this space.
Along with my colleague and fellow EAAPI Trainer Maelani Mills, I am able to design and facilitate a Horse Wisdom Program that targets the unique needs of your workplace, sporting club or organisation. Offered as a once-off one day workshop or as an ongoing program over several sessions, our approach to team building and personal development is like no other on the market. Whether you are looking to improve team performance, support individuals with resilience and growth or develop new standards in communication and teamwork, our experiential approach to learning, combined with the power of Horse Wisdom will bring a new dimension to your club or organisation that is hard to ignore. Workshops are held in a stunning Macedon Ranges location, with views to Mt Macedon, Hanging Rock and are easily accessible to both Tullamarine Airport and Melbourne CBD.
